I want to express my utmost interest in securing a full-time position with a major corporate retail firm. I am looking to dive into this realm of the retail industry, and what I may lack in corporate experience, I more than make up for in drive, enthusiasm and commitment; you will not find a more devoted employee. I am highly independent and an extremely fast learner with large long-term career goals. I am looking to gain a holistic understanding of the retail industry and the fashion world, and I firmly believe that any relevant job experience will help me further my career, and I am especially interested in the field of buying. I want to soak up as much information as possible because retail is my passion.

As can be seen on my attached resume, I have always worked in retail and have four years of experience. I began working in an upscale, locally owned boutique in Ohio as a sales assistant when I was seventeen. This position required me to balance cross-functional workloads from all angles of the business. I learned to work many behind the scenes functions like inventory management, vendor relations and customer communication. Moreover, I evolved into the owner’s assistant after only a few months, thereby gaining significant exposure to the inner-most workings of a retail firm. Working at Nabici Collection allowed me to begin my work experience in a challenging, fast-paced environment; and now I want absolutely nothing less! From my starting point I branched out to a larger chain specialty denim store, where I became an expert on luxury jeans, then worked as an independent contractor selling home goods. I completed two internships in the summer of 2009 working with both OAK and Dear Creatures and I would love to continue working in New York City. I feel that the energy of the city matches my motivation and excitement for the retail industry.

The one piece that my work experience lacks is a true corporate experience. I would love to be able to see the structure that I have learned the past four years as a Retail Management major put to practice. In the past, I have worked in smaller-scale operations which are naturally less structured as less people are involved. My time spent working in New York City this summer showed me that working in a large corporation is what I want to do – I crave the internal motivation, breadth of opportunities and more in-depth experience that it offers. I am excited to journey into the world of corporate retail!
